The metaverse has been booming recently ever since the announcement of Facebook’s change to Meta. Many cryptocurrency investors and speculators rushed to pour their money into the metaverse section of cryptocurrencies. However, since the ease or ability of creating a cryptocurrency token exists by many people, many metaverse coins have sprouted from out of nowhere. And by many, we mean...a LOT. With the metaverse space getting overcrowded, some metaverse tokens not holding their promises, and so many copycat games and faulty ideas, it becomes really difficult to determine the actual select few cryptocurrencies that have a possibility of doing well in the metaverse space in the future. After doing hours of research, here’s Tokenspace’s list of some metaverse cryptocurrencies to look out for. As always check the disclaimer at the end of this post.
Sandbox
Starting the list off fairly simple, we’ve got Sandbox, a crypto metaverse token that has grown nearly 10x in the past couple of months. And many investors think for good reason too. Sandbox is a metaverse in which people or companies can buy virtual land slots in the overarching Sandbox world. There are also a crazy amount of opportunities and ways to play the game, earn actual money, interact with people or items, and have fun. Sandbox has partnered with various large companies and names, like Snoop Dogg, Adidas, The Walking Dead, Atari, and more. Not only that, but Sandbox has some stunning visuals of the game, and the game is supposed to release just around the corner. Sandbox additionally has many in-game and metaverse items as NFTs, and a large NFT marketplace to initiate buys and sells of those NFTs. Many games exist within Sandbox itself, and to be honest it is quite similar to Minecraft...but with much more opportunities, cool things, and money involved (if we do say so ourselves).
BlockMonsters
Before we get into this token, it’s very important to say that this is an ultra small market cap token, so anything can happen and it may even be a scam or get rug-pulled. However, the idea is very great and promising, so let’s get to it. BlockMonsters is a game that is similar to Pokemon, in which players can collect animals, battle, train, trade, level up, and interact in this virtual gamified world with money involved. We are not sure if this exactly falls into the metaverse category, but nevertheless it’s still cool. The BlockMonsters are also NFTs, tradeable, sellable, and collectable. The game is supposed to launch soon, and players can be trainers, collect their BlockMonsters, battle, earn money, complete tasks, and more. What really caught our eyes was the branding, the trailer, and the roadmap of the token. The token sure has big things planned, and it is still a low market cap so it has room to grow.
Decentraland
If you want to get into the metaverse game, Decentraland is one of the basics to get yourself started off with. Decentraland is a metaverse crypto game that can be explored with virtual reality. It allows users to interact with each other, earn money, create things, and it claims that the world is “owned by its users”. With lots of possibilities in this metaverse and its supposed compatibility with VR, this looks like it could be a really cool game of the future. Like most other large metaverse tokens, Decentraland also has a large NFT marketplace. Decentraland also has game events and more, truly adding to the futuristic game effect. Additionally, the design is smooth and promising, the compatibility and technique to build and trade is efficient and fun, and overall Decentraland looks really achieved. It is a large token, and we think deservedly so. But there’s no telling what’s in store for the future of this token.
Polkacity
Like BlockMonsters, Polkacity is also a small market cap coin and like all the coins on this list, risks apply. However, Polkacity is an interesting metaverse token, as it allows players to first of all participate in a metaverse virtual game, own things like virtual taxis, gas stations, and more utilities, earn money, and of course, trade, buy, and store their in-game assets in the form of NFTs. Not only that, but Polkacity seems to have a 3D game launch in their roadmap, and scheduled for Q2 of 2022 is a digital land sale and virtual real estate for the game. As the game expands and more things can be accomplished in the metaverse, if everything goes according to plan Polkacity should be a crypto metaverse token to watch out for. Polkacity also has a Ethereum and Binance bridge, and is focusing on listing on exchanges, which might illustrate the token’s desire to reach as many people as possible.
Axie Infinity
Of course, there is rarely any metaverse token list without Axie Infinity. Perhaps the first largest metaverse crypto game that skyrocketed and has continued to nearly double in the past couple months, Axie Infinity has an NFT marketplace, a completed and widely played game, cutting edge technology, many applications and possibilities within the game, and many chances for profits. The game was also created by a legit game development company called Sky Mavis, and seems to have lots of reach to crypto people. It has also gotten funding from legit and large companies, showing that they may have faith in the token. Of course, you should do your own research on Axie Infinity, but the information about it is not hard to find since it is so popular. Axie Infinity is perhaps another one of the metaverse basics.
And there you have it, a list of 5 metaverse tokens to watch out for, including 3 large market cap and 2 small market cap, depending on how you see it.
